Project History

We are an Anglican Evangelical Charismatic church in the centre of St Austell. We have a large congregation with around 200 people attending from a variety of different age groups. Over the past year our staff team has increased to grow the work that we currently do and we are excited to offer opportunities to join our team as the work expands. Currently we are working with a project called Transforming Mission, which seeks to pioneer mission across Cornwall in fresh ways. Young Adults, Worship, Youth & Childrens work are just some of the key areas we are currently focusing on.

Structure & Vision

Here at Holy Trinity we would love to invite SWYM interns to join us on our journey of “Searching for God’s heart and sharing what we find”. Our vision for the church is that we seek to listen to the Holy Spirit and be guided by Him. In doing so, we are looking to pioneer how we do mission through our four key areas of ministry. In addition to this, we have recently begun work on transforming a disused pub into a community hub that offers multiple opportunities to expand the work of our current ministries. A new contemporary coffee shop, various conferencing rooms, brand new office space, a filming room and loft space for worship sessions are just some of the ideas that we are keen to explore.

Location

Our church is in the centre of St Austell at the end of the main shopping street. Lots of people visit it (when open) due to it's history (15th century, grade 1 listed). St Austell is on the coast and just a few minutes drive from local beaches. The town itself is keen to see regeneration and our vicar has been invited to meetings on revitalising St Austell. The town is known for high levels of poverty and deprivation. To tackle this, we've set up Christians in Poverty and looking at ways we can help the needy. We believe that the Trinity Centre (pub we've bought) will play a key role in helping us to establish various community groups and revitalise St Austell.

Current Ministry

Media

As a result of the pandemic we have been developing our digital media offerings. There are plenty of opportunities available to get involved with the development of our online services, livestreaming capabilities and growing our YouTube channel. Alongside this is graphic design and photography.

Young Adults (18s-30s)

We are beginning to gather young adults in the area to form authentic Jesus following communities. We currently call this Grain Community with the tag line "Wholesome Living" and this is designed to help empower other churches to setup indigenous communities with a passion for mission. Open mic nights, young adults games nights and book clubs are just some of the events we will be running in order to engage with those who don't yet know Christ.

Worship

We are employing a Worship Pioneer Minister to begin to develop our ministries across the church. Evening services, worship nights, youth band and Sunday worship are just some of the areas to be involved with.

Youth and Children

We currently serve our children and young people by the provision we offer on a Sunday morning plus our Saturday night Youth Club, Soul Life. We look to involve our young people in events going on around the county and provide one to one mentoring. We hope to offer more opportunities over the year ahead.
