Justin Humphries & Simon Barrington | 1st Nov 2021
Justin and Simon will explore what it means to put integrity and justice at the heart of how we lead.
From #MeToo scandals to the explosion of abuse in the Church, the past years have seen us watch countless leaders fall.
What went wrong for these leaders? And more importantly, how can we get it right?
Justice is the heart cry of the next generation but too often our fight for justice is confined to causes, bypassing conversations about individual leaders behaviours and relationships across our churches, organisations, charities and communities. The day together will empower leader everywhere to answer the call for a fairer, more transparent, more equal society by putting justice right at the heart of their own leadership.
Justin Humphreys is joint Chief Executive of the independent Christian safeguarding charity thirtyone:eight. He has had a career in social work, social welfare and church leadership spanning more than 25 years.
Justin currently chairs the Christian Forum for Safeguarding, a collaborative forum for the national safeguarding leads of Christian denominations and networks across the UK. He is also the principal adviser to the All–Party Parliamentary Group on Safeguarding in Faith Communities (Co-Chaired by Janet Daby MP and Lord Bishop Vivienne Faull) and, through thirtyone:eight, provides the secretariat. Justin is also an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Chester. His primary areas of interest are effective safeguarding within Christian contexts and safer, healthier leadership.
Justin is the co-author of Escaping the Maze of Spiritual Abuse: Creating healthy Christian cultures (SPCK, 2019) with Dr Lisa Oakley and Just Leadership (SPCK, 2021) with Simon Barrington.
