The South West Baptist Association (SWBA) and South West Youth Ministries (SWYM) are offering individuals the chance to explore ministry based within a missional context with outstanding support and training with SWYM.

What will it look like?

You will spend a year based with a missional context in the South West, exploring mission in creative and innovative ways. You will spend 32 hours a week volunteering in this setting, with 8 hours per week set aside for study.

What is the training?

The course is designed to enable you to grow as a missional leader, covering a wide range of issues and practice. You will be a part of the SWYM Be Transformed Programme, attending six four-day conferences across the year with the wider SWYM community and meeting weekly with local trainees for encouragement and support. You will also receive additional support and input from the South West Baptist Association.

What could this year lead to?

There will be the opportunity to explore as a part of this year what ministry might look like for you which could include training in Baptist ministry or continuing and exploring the BA (Hons) in Applied Theology with Missional Leadership focus for three years with SWYM and Moorlands College.

How much will it cost?

Most of the training costs will be covered by your placement setting and the SWBA, reducing the cost to you to £1,300 for the year. Grants towards the costs of training for those aged 25 or younger are currently available from foundations and charities in the South West.

Your placement will also cover accommodation and food costs, but we recommend you fundraise between £100 – £150 per month to cover other living costs such as toiletries, mobile phone bill etc. SWYM will work with you, giving tools and ideas of how to gather prayer and financial supporters.
