Description
We are so excited to be looking to appoint a Youth and Children’s Intern who is as passionate about God (and about children & young people growing in their relationship with Him) as we are.
The role's primary purpose is for you to experience all aspects of children's and youth ministry as part of our church staff team whilst having opportunities to grow in responsibility and leadership. Therefore, no experience is necessary, just a passion for God and sharing His heart
St Andrew's Church, Cullompton, strapline is ‘Revealing the heart of Jesus in the heart of our community', and we are seeking someone with the same passion in their heart.
You will join a big church staff team of 6 paid workers and many volunteers in various ministries who are passionate about Jesus and sharing Him with our community. You will be expected to participate fully in St Andrew's children and youth ministry. This involves working with our Children, Youth and Families Pastor and our Children’s and Families Worker with:
- Toddlers
- Youth Hub
- Friday Night Youth
- Sunday Morning Children and Youth Groups
- School Pastors
- Primary School Assemblies
- Two Annual Residential Trips (Youth Weekend & SPREE)
- Holiday Club
- and more!
Of course, you will also have space to do your course studies and many opportunities for extra input. You will also have the opportunity to put into practice skills learnt from your studies and ideas you may have to make a difference in our community.
There may be an option to include a worship element within this role if you have the skills and passion to explore this.
We can also host you in one of our church families' homes and walk alongside you in this chapter of your journey. As you grow in this role, so will your responsibilities, which will be at a comfortable pace and agreed upon together.
Essential Criteria
- A committed Christian
- An awareness of the Bible and some discipleship experience
- An awareness of safeguarding or willingness to learn (Training will be provided)
- Willingness to work within a team
- Basic IT skills
- Ability to follow policies
- Reliable and trustworthy
- A willingness to work independently (when ready) and has good organisational skills
- Sense of humour
Preferred Criteria
While this is our preferred criteria, we welcome applicants without the experience below, and we will provide all the training required. Therefore, we seek someone with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Experience in working with children or young people (voluntary or work experience)
- Leadership experience
- Experience of ChurchSuite
- Experience of schools work
- Social media and photography skills
- Pastoral care experience
Accommodation Details
Accommodation provided. You will live with someone from within the church congregation.

Tuesdays - Day Off/Study Day
Wednesdays - Church Ministries Meeting (AM) - School Assembly (PM)
Thursdays - Line Manager Meeting (AM) - Mentor Meeting (Lunchtime) - Admin & Planning (PM)
Fridays - Admin & Planning (AM) - School Pastors (Lunchtime) - Friday Night Youth (Evening - 1st and 3rd Friday of each month)
Saturdays - Day Off/Study Day
Sundays - 11am Service (children's and youth groups) - Youth Hub (Evening 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month)
The SWYM Cluster in 2024-2025 takes place on Monday afternoons. We will rearrange the days if this does not apply for 2025-2026. This is a typical week working a maximum of 32hrs per week, and on some occasions, we may need to adjust working days based on seasonal events (such as Easter, Christmas, Residential's, Holiday Clubs, etc.).
