The ministry of the churches of Bradley Stoke Parish [Christ the King and Holy Trinity churches] is at an exciting and pivotal moment.

Primarily, we are looking for an energized, relational self starter who will give resource, energy and direction to “finding out what God is doing and joining in”. in this regard, there is plenty to choose from in giving focus to the energies of helping our church members to live our parish vision to be “People of Good news aCross Bradley Stoke and Little Stoke”.

In recent times, the youth and children element of our vision and resultant ministries can be described as “bringing God to people and bringing people to God”. Our midweek groups have been a place where church members serve the needs of community in which we are set, and these groups have been more effectively and regularly brought into our family focused worshipping communities, including a new Sunday afternoon initiative in the early months of development.

  • Our existing groups and initiatives, including
    • Highly popular and growing children and youth groups [5-16 year olds] in four distinct groups
      • RockSolid – lunchtime in-school club in Church School [VA]
      • Trailblazers – afterschool, church based games, video, teaching for 5-11’s
      • Secondary School Bible Study, intentional discipleship study group
      • 4Mation – youth activity group with video based and live Christian content [11-14]
    • Three recent and fruitful advances in reshaping our worship to aim more overtly at whole families being invited to worship. These are outpacing our regular worship in terms of provision for children and young people, so there will be additional challenge and opportunity to build and rebuild our regular Sunday morning children’s groups, in terms of resource, energy and direction.
      • Café Church at Christ the King, drawing around 100 adults and 40 children
      • Re:Create – a new Parishwide team building a new Sunday afternoon worshipping community, serving 25-30 families otherwise unconnected to worshiping communities
      • FamilyChurch at Holy Trinity – the latest initiative to reshape our worship with an emphasis on our links with our School, Preschool and Tots families - more slowly growing from around 35 adults and 10 children
    • In addition
      • There is also the beginnings of preparation and an embryonic team to pilot midweek Messy Church sessions from September 2019
      • We are strengthening our links with our attached Church School [VA], our oversubscribed church sponsored Pre-School and two church-based Toddlers Groups as well as community and commercial children and toddler groups who use our buildings.
      • We have an established commitment to serve 6x primary schools with weekly assemblies, in partnership with 3xlocal churches. In addition, we have recently created links with the newbuild primary school in town [2017] where there has been no previous church-school links, and now serve with weekly assemblies.
      • This has also created a new link to the local primary academy serving three schools which have, until recently had weak/struggling school-church links.
    • In short, we genuinely have more solid ministry opportunities than regular ministerial capacity amongst our lay and ordained team. We intend that our commitment will be to respond to these opportunities with energy and resource.
      • by deploying the new role holder of this funded post to play a hands on role in terms of resourcing and relationship building in the teams, and amongst the families we are steadily drawing into the life of the church.
      • by appointing a role-holder who is skilled in supporting team members from the churches. Our aim is to build a broader team of volunteers to address our opportunities to serve our schools and groups, amidst their associated children and families.
      • Our most recent initiatives have demonstrated that there is genuine goodwill in the church and community to build on good foundations built over the past few years - and the capacity to respond positively to the invitation to serve in new ways.
