Description
Job Description
- To support and facilitate Heatree’s vision for children and young people to encounter God through adventure.
- To assist in all departments in the delivery of outdoor adventure residentials, as operational demands require.
- To build relationships with children and young people that facilitate the exploration of Christianity and their relationship with God.
Main Duties
- To deliver age-appropriate and experience-related Christian content.
- To support the daily work of a busy residential centre, such as catering, housekeeping and maintenance.
- To assist and lead outdoor education sessions with children and young people.
- To positively represent the Charity by always demonstrating responsible behaviour.
- To provide consistently high levels of customer service.
- To follow standard operating procedures, policies and risk assessments.
- To report to the Volunteer Manager for time off and sickness.
Support and Training
To enable the Venture Beyond volunteer to fulfil the main duties listed above, Heatree Activity Centre will provide support and training in the following areas:
- Safe working practises, including Health and Safety in the areas of housekeeping, catering, maintenance and outdoor activities.
- Specific in-house training in delivering outdoor activities.
- Support in the delivery of age-appropriate and experience-related Christian content.
- Certificate in Outdoor First Aid.
- Food Hygiene Level 2.
- Safeguarding Training Level 2.
With the help and support of the SWYM Be Transformed Programme, Venture Beyond volunteers will gain valuable and appropriate training provided by SWYM that will serve them over the long term and make meaningful connections and memories.
Volunteers will leave Be Transformed with a greater understanding of their calling and purpose, as well as new skills and lasting friendships.
Volunteers will be provided with resources to help develop their practical ministry skills, including how to lead groups, teach children and young people about the Christian faith and to develop good time management and ensure productivity. This will include using the outdoor environment to explore how Jesus modelled the importance and power of being immersed in the 'wilderness' to connect and deepen his relationship with God, and how this same model of ministry can be used with children and young people.

Accommodation Details
Shared accommodation will be provided on-site in a staff house which will be shared with other volunteers. The accommodation comprises of a kitchen, lounge/diner individual bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Heatree Activity Centre is situated in the middle of East Dartmoor, surrounded by open moorland. This gives direct access to beautiful walks, mountain biking routes and bouldering on local Tors.
The centre provides the perfect escape from busy town life and to fully immerse in God's amazing creation. Public transport is limited, and the nearest town is 15 minutes away by car.

There will be occasions where this schedule will change due to operational needs such as weekend work; this will be offset by time off in the week.
