Description

We are looking for a kind and adventurous person to work with our Youth Team here at TUFC.   We would like this new team member first to get to know our young people, and then to use their unique gifts to help us to develop our Youth Ministry.

Totnes is a progressive town in the heart of the beautiful South Hams, nestled between Dartmoor and the ocean.

Aims

  • To enable local young people to experience the love of Jesus, become Christians and grow in faith. 
  • To build strong supportive relationships with our young church members in order to nurture strong character and confidence. 
  • To take part in outreach projects in the community in order to build relationships with young people beyond the culture of the church and introduce them to Christ.

Learning Goals.

By the end of the placement you will know how to:

  1. Support/run a programme of exciting and imaginative activities for the young people of the church. (Approx 25 YP at present) 
  2. Partner up with our strong team of volunteers to work with young people in both church and community contexts. 
  3. Develop good relationships and learn to provide pastoral care for young people within the church. 
  4. maintain a key role within the church community (approx 150 members).
  5. Work in schools and other local community contexts with the aim of sharing the Christian faith.
  6. Help to plan and organise events and projects for young people from the local community. 
  7. Draw inspiration and encouragement from other youth workers across the area. 

Essential Criteria

  1. A deep authentic love for God.
  2. A deep authentic love for young people.
  3. A desire to relate to young people and to inspire confidence in them.
  4. An understanding of the challenges of being a young person in our culture and the ability to maintain sensitivity and kindness towards them.
  5. A strong sense of adventure.
  6. A willingness to work as part of a team.
  7. A willingness to learn to spot opportunities, think creatively and take initiative.
  8. Some planning, administrative and organisation skills.
  9. Some knowledge of the Bible..
  10. Computer / online proficiency.
  11. Honesty.
  12. A sense of humour.

 

Preferred Criteria

Driving licence would be useful.

Morning: Study and Devotions

Afternoon: 1:1 with Line Manager and planning the week.

Evening: Free time 

Tuesday

Morning: Prep for youth sessions 

Afternoon: Kingsbridge YFC Centre (incl.  Schools work and helping with CU)

Evening: Free time

Wednesday

Morning: Meet with cluster

Afternoon: Free time 

Evening: Connect Plus (14-17s) 

Thursday

Morning: SWYM Study Time

Afternoon: Free time

Evening: Connect (11-13s)

Friday - Day off

Saturday - Day off

Sunday

Morning - Church (helping run our Sunday Youth Ministry) 

Afternoon - Free time

Evening - Meet with Mentor.
