Bagley Baptist Church

Bagley Baptist Church is situated on a small hill overlooking the Cheddar Valley in Somerset, England. There has been a place of worship there for a hundred years. The church serves a range of villages and towns in the surrounding area within an approximate radius of 7 miles.

There is a rich hertige of children and youth work at the church and this area of ministry remains a priority.

Our Vision: To spread the good news of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We live to serve Jesus, and for Him to be at the centre of all we are and do. We desire to be a light on a hill, growing together and serving our local communities, founded on the Word and the Spirit.

A key part of realising this vision is to have a vibrant children, youth and families work at Bagley and so we make it a priority to invest in these aspects of our work.

Each member of the team plays a key role in contributing to the vision, with an emphasis on facilitating and equipping others to live out the vision of the church too. Our mission is bigger than any individual task or person but together our work contributes to the whole body. As a Christian organisation our faith is at the heart of our working culture.

We aim to engage with both those inside and outside the church, creating spaces where young people can thrive and where friendships and faith can grow. Also, we seek to develop, train and empower young people into the fullness of character and calling.

We have a part-time employed Youth Leader who is line managed by one of the Senior Leadership team. She is supported by a group of volunteer youth leaders.

Bagley is a very small hamlet near the village of Wedmore. We are therefore a very rual setting and the ability to drive an important requirement for any youth worker. There is a Multi-Academy Trust that has all of the local schools in it. Many of these schools are church schools and there is significant opportunity to connect with these schools, in partnership with other local churches.

The church leaders of the Cheddar Valley meet together monthly and there is a good level of cooperation and mutual support.

Currently, Bagley has an open access youth group (The Hub) that meets on Wednesdays together with a Sunday Hub as part of our morning services. We are blessed with a number of young adults at church and are keen to see our ministry to them develop. In addition, we have an exicting and developing  relationship with a  local middle school  and also link with youth work in other local churches. There is scope for all this to grow further.

In addition, we have a strong 'sunday school' work and a number of young families. There is also scope to develop our family ministry, for example in supporting young parents and toddlers.
