Project History

Trinity has a long history of children's and youth ministry, including for many years employing a full-time children and youth worker to oversee care of under 19s and their families. Like many churches, Covid significantly impacted our congregation and the number of families involved with our church. However, we are seeing God do a new thing as he is rebuilding his church and drawing new families to Trinity. We are genuinely excited about God is leading forward and the growth we are seeing!

Structure & Vision

As our Head of Children's and Youth Ministries, central to Annie's role is to bring the voice of children and young people front and centre in all we do as a church. Our vision is to see a Jesus-filled Frome with people of all ages finding hope and purpose through knowing Christ themselves. Our new strategy is focus on children and young people, mission to our community and growing together as one Church.

Our vision is big but we recognise we have a long way to go! Our passion is to see children and young people become life-long disciples of Jesus, who themselves make disciples. They are the church leaders of tomorrow!

Supported by the Diocese of Bath & Wells, we are partnering with other local churches to develop children's and youth ministry across Frome and the local area. We are establishing a network-approach for youth ministry (such as taking a group of young people to the Satellites festival) and pursing opportunities including Open the Book and Holiday clubs.

We believe that now is the time for Trinity to grow its children's and youth ministry resources and leaders. A priority for us is growing and equipping leaders. A SWYM trainee at Trinity would be helped to grow in their own ministry and leadership as they work with us in developing children's and youth work across Frome.

Location

Frome is an ancient market town situated at the eastern end of Somerset’s Mendip Hills, about 30 minutes from both Bath and Wells. With roots in the wool trade, and a significant history of industries including metalwork and printing, Frome’s popularity has increased steadily in recent years attracting a growing number of visitors and new residents from outside the area. Recently it has been described in national media as the ‘best place to live in the South West’ and the ‘most stylish place in the UK’. The town has a visionary independent town council with local community initiatives and a supportive spirit identified as core strengths. New housing developments have extended the town’s boundaries; the population has risen significantly to over 28,000.

However, Frome is not homogenous. Alongside the arrival of ‘new money’ from incomers and much positive development, there are significant pockets of deprivation in the town, including areas around Trinity church.

Trinity sees its mission to all in our community.

Current Ministry

We currently work with 0s to 18s through our toddler group, mum & babies support group, after school LEGO club, Sunday kids and youth, growing involvement with local schools (including a reading club at our local community first school) as well as running seasonal events for families in the local community (e.g. light parties, craft mornings and special services). We always want to grow and to do more!
