Preston Baptist Church

3 years ago James Brown was appointed as a full-time minister to work with Tricia Barrett ( Partime ). Since this appointment, Tricia has retired. We have been seeking what is the best way forward for the church. It is a 3 pronged vision. 1) Employ a person to assist with administration. 2) Seek help from the fellowship and outside to help James with ministry on a Sunday morning. 3) Invest in our children and youth.

Over the last 3 years, we have seen our work on a Sunday morning with children grow. We now have a small youth group (5). They are all very keen and attend very regularly. 2 children's group meet. 3-7 year-olds (12) and 7-11year olds ( 10)

There is a Messy church who meet monthly - It has reach our capacity. About 30 children and 20 parents attend.

Toddler group meet on a Friday morning in term time. About 20-25 families are represented

A preschool runs from the church premises.  Although not part of the church the manager and many of the workers are church members or adherents.

Mummy and me meet once a week in term time.

We want to see our church engaging more and more with not only those children who attend with their families but also those in our community. It has been suggested that we could start a youth club or club for those younger children. This would be in the week.  There also is opportunity to engage with the work of LiNX

Preston Baptist Church is situated on the main road between Torquay and Paignton. The actual area known as Preston has a number of local shops and cafes. It is only a 5-minute walk to the seafront ( Preston Beach) and then another 5-minute walk to Paignton Beach. The seafront areas offer the chance to participate in water sports,  football, minigolf, basketball and many other activities so as a result is very popular not only with holidaymakers but also with the locals.

Sunday morning worship when about 120-130 attend. This is led by our pastor and worship band. Children and youth groups meet with the church for the first 30mins and then go to their own sessions

Outside agencies renting the halls- stretch classes, hoops, English courses for Ukrainian children. Birthday Parties etc

Easter Community fun days. This year 400 of the community were in attendance!

Each Thursday there is a food club running which is part of the Torbay Alliance. At the same time there is a free cafe operating serving coffee, cake and toasties. Many from the food club pop along to the cafe after purchasing their food requirements.
