Project History
Carnmarth North Deanery has been working for the past couple of years on developing a united strategy for mission across our area.
Structure & Vision
The project is headed up by the Deanery Missioner alongside a team drawn from across the deanery (Deanery Implementation Team)
Our shared priorities are expressed in our vision statement: Living God's abundant life; Sharing the Good News of Jesus.
Our priorities for mission are:
- New Faith (evangelism)
- Growing Faith (discipleship)
- People in greatest finacial need
- Children, Young People and Schools
- Community Life
These priorities lead us to the margins of existing church and to redouble our efforts in reaching the next generation with the gospel.
Almost every Anglican church has historic links with its local school, this is especially so in villages where there is often a primary school.
Our vision is to develop a united, relational strategy for reaching our schools through trusted relationships and high-quality resources.
We seek to offer a supportive, knowledgeable and agile service, able to offer opportunities that will serve the young people of Camborne, Redruth, and surrounding villages.
With a focus on Year 6 we hope to offer youngsters and schools support at a crucial time.
Location
Carnmarth North Deanery in West Cornwall is made up of 18 Anglican churches across four mission areas in Truro Diocese, comprising Redruth, Camborne, Illogan and St Day and surrounding villages. The deanery has a population of around 60,000, with 40k in the town areas and a further 20k in the surrounding villages. Although the area is very diverse, it contains significant areas which are hard hit by poverty and near the bottom of every index of deprivation.
Current Ministry
We have strong connections with local schools, hosting frequent visits to church and going in to take assemblies.
