Project History
The Woodlands Church Family (WCF) is a vibrant, growing family of churches with eight sites located across the city of Bristol. Our vision is to see Bristol transformed through the love and power of God as we create spirit-filled, visible communities of faith in neighbourhoods across the city.
Each congregation is distinct in their style, but we all share the same vision, mission and values to be communities which are welcoming of everyone, authentic in our faith, empowered by the Holy Spirit and expectant of all that God will do in us and through us.
Central to our plans to reach this city for Jesus are young people! In the Bristol region, there are 90,000 young people who don’t have regular contact with church or faith. We would love to see this change!
Structure & Vision
As part of our wider vision, our dream is that every young person in the Bristol area would have the opportunity to encounter the good news of Jesus, are able to respond to that invitation and find a community where they can discover life in all it's fullness.
Towards this end, our amazing youth team (made up of staff and volunteers) are aiming to double the impact of our youth ministry in the next 5 years.
We envision this will be through implementing our strategy to Connect>Explore>Respond>Grow&Go.
CONNECT - develop new outreach initiatives to connect with unchurched young people.
EXPLORE - discover ways to help those young people explore faith in & encounter Jesus for themselves.
RESPOND - provide opportunities for young people to respond to the Gospel of Jesus.
GROW & GO - lead settings where young people can GROW & GO into the lifestyle of the kingdom.
Location
Bristol is a vibrant and growing city with two highly rated universities and a large student population of over 50,000 students. It is a regional centre for media, the arts, music and entertainment.
Whilst it has everything a large city has to offer, there is also plenty of green space, easy access to beautiful areas of countryside includes the Mendips, the Wye Valley and the coastline of the South West and South Wales.
Current Ministry
At Woodlands Church Family we currently engage over 150 young people through our churches and events each week, with over 30 of those at our Highgrove congregation.
Our Highgrove youth ministry currently comprises a Friday night youth group, monthly united youth services gathering, Sunday morning discipleship groups, a mentoring programme and schools work connections.
We also have a programme of weekends away, trips, youth alpha courses, socials and summer camps throughout the year.
