Project History
BYP officially became a CIO in 2018 as 4 local churches worked together with SU to create Bodmin Youth Project Trust to provide quality youth work opportunities to young people from across the churches and beyond.
We currently operate youth groups for young people aged 10-14 and 14-18 and operate a football outreach programme in a local park. With a dozen volunteers we are limited in what we can currently do, but are effective as possible in maxing out the possibilities.
We previously had Rob Cleveland with us as a SWYM Be Transformed volunteer.
Structure & Vision
BYP has 4 trustees which oversee the work, and a dozen volunteers who implement it. Our vision is to reach the young people of Bodmin and its surrounding area with the Good News of Jesus and we do this through youth groups and sports outreach as well as one-off events.
We are Local Mission Partners with SU who have been incredibly generous in their support and encouragement.
We see great possibilities for expansion of the work, particularly in terms of outreach to young people beyond the church.
Location
Bodmin town and the surrounding villages are very diverse in their make up. We currently reach a variety of young people from a wide range of backgrounds. Their is a clear lack of aspiration amongst many young people, and those within our churches feel isolated and few in number.
