Project History

Many years ago, God gave this church a vision based on the story of the Cave of Adullam (1 Samuel 22).

In this cave,  King David drew together local men who were in distress, in debt or discontented. All 400 of them subsequently became mighty men of God. This is a picture of who we believe God has called us to be today - a community of healing,  restoration and strength.

God has rescued us all in different ways, and we understand that He has not done so for us to sit on our hands and wait for heaven! We are called to go out in to the area and bless those who don't know the love of God for themselves. Therefore, as a thankful people, we seek to be hospitable and courageous in all that we do.

Our Youth Ministry runs with this same passion. We want to see young people welcomed into a community where they can be loved, restored and to discover their strength and calling.

Structure & Vision

As well as a Youth Worker coordinating the Youth ministry we have a devoted team of volunteers who have built strong and positive relationship with our 20 or so 11-18s. We have seen many of our young people grow in faith and character and nearly all of them have been equipped to run groups and serve other ministries as they move on to their universities or job placements. We gather them in a number of ways: from midweek groups to Sundays we offer social spaces as well as spaces for our young people to learn and grow in their faith.

The Youth Team is outward looking and they love to get involved in our community, support local schools, and work closely with other local churches and have a special working relationship with Kingsbridge Youth for Christ. This is something we would love to develop further as our local high school is open for more involvement and there is masses of potential for detached youth ministry.

Location

Totnes is a vibrant market town, known for its alternative philosophies and eclectic community!  It is and area of outstanding natural beauty nestled in the south Hams half way between Dartmoor and the ocean.  It is also half way between Exeter and Plymouth with great rail links to both.

Current Ministry

We are currently investing in the group of young people we have coming regularly, enjoying the freedom to get out and do things after a long period of online meeting.  Our recent weekend away in a costal camping barn was awesome, with beach games, Pizza Feast from the outdoor oven, worship, encounter and then dancing past midnight!  We are seeing new faces most weeks at both our midweek adventures and our Sunday drive-in church.
