Week Overview
Across the week your hours will look something like this...
- Roughly 12-15 hours dedicated to youth within the church (and their friends), including Sunday morning & evening youth groups and an after school drop in club to generate social/outreach/discipleship opportunities. There will be at least one Sunday a month when you will be in for the whole of the Sunday service and not rota-ed at all that morning.
- Roughly 12 hours to plan, lead and develop schools work opportunities with Exeter ICE and alternative provision contexts through Acorn. You will work alongside other schools workers and chaplains in the city. Your activities will include lunch time clubs, assemblies (online and in person), lessons, creative 'hanging around', prayer spaces and one off projects. The work will predominately be in secondary schools but with opportunities in primary schools as well.
- Regular mentorship and support, including one-on-one meetings with your mentor, regular check-ins with your line manager and the children’s worker, and opportunities to connect with the wider church family as well as regular staff team meetings and the occasional leadership team meeting.
- Weekly cluster meetings and study time- as part of your training and development.
- Time off to rest and recharge—Day off on Saturday and most evenings. Exeter offers plenty of opportunities to meet friends, explore cafés, go shopping, enjoy leisure and sports facilities, or attend gigs. With excellent transport links, it’s also easy to explore beyond the town.
