Description

The job will involve, but not be limited to the following.  It will be adapted as necessary to meet the trainee’s needs, interests and their desire to grow in their Christian faith.

To support and develop the current youth work at The Baptist Church Kilmington which currently consists of a monthly youth club, a fortnightly home group and weekly Sunday morning sessions

To share the Good News of Christ and disciple young people.

To be involved in leading of the youth club.

To develop links with other Christian youth groups and events in the area.

To be actively involved with one-off and annual events within the community

To be involved in community projects  and annual church events as agreed by line manager.

To be involved in pastoral care within the church community.

Essential Criteria

A committed Christian who loves God and has a desire to grow in their own faith

A passion to help young people find and grow their faith

Enthusiasm to work and build relationships with children and youth

Willing to learn good communication  skills

Willingness to learn organisational skills

Approachable and friendly

Willing to try new things and be adaptable

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check

Preferred Criteria

Ability to work with multi-media/technology and social media

Willingness to learn to use ChurchSuite

Some experience in leading/co-leading groups (eg, Sunday Groups, Youth Clubs etc…)

A heart for pastoral care

Would be helpful to have an awareness of the challenges of living and working in a rural setting

Ability to drive (or willing to learn whilst on placement) due to rural location & spread of congregation

Musical skills (e.g. Guitar/Piano/Singing) & passion to encourage & share skills with youth.
