Description
We are a small, community focused Baptist church in the Devonport area of Plymouth. We are looking for an Intern who will get involved in our community work.
Regular activities will include
- Getting involved with the church community allotment
- To be part of a team that provides services at the local homeless hostel
- Helping with the food club, as it serves over 100 families in Devonport
- Helping with the Toddler Group that meets in a local cafe
- Serving the local city college chaplaincy
- working with two local youth clubs
- Detached youth work with young people on the margins
- Helping run the monthly ecumenical Messy Church
- Being part of the Sunday community
- Helping with kids work on Sunday mornings
Essential Criteria
We are looking for a self-motivated, highly adaptable person, willing to work with people of all ages and different situations
Someone with a heart for the poor, and a passion for social justice. A love of God's creation and people, especially people on the edge
Someone ready to get stuck in, and happy to step up to any challenge.
Able to work both in small teams, but also capable of initiating projects themselves. Someone with a lot of creativity and flair.
Preferred Criteria
We would welcome applications from all ages, we are especially open to someone with a bit of life experience.
Accommodation Details
We are looking to provide accommodation in the house of a local family.

Monday - SWYM Day, church allotment
Tuesday - Study - Youth Club
Wednesday - Food Club/Toddler Group, Youth Club
Thursday - City college chaplaincy/Detached youth work
Friday - Day off
Saturday - Community work
Sunday - Morning Church/Kids Church/ Messy Church
