Trainee Youth Worker

Aim/Purpose to meet an identified need / opportunity amongst the children and older youth / young adults @ CBC

From September 2026 to July 2027

To support the work of SGH (St George's House) for 20 hours pw (mainly Monday to Thursday evenings plus Friday morning by agreement)

To work for CBC for 20 hours pw

This will include (NB this might vary through the year):

• 3 hrs/wk SWYM Cluster Meeting (TBC)
• 5 hrs/wk Study
• 12 hrs/wk Youth Work, to include:
• (a) Older Youth: organise a midweek gathering each week / fortnight during term time with older youth possibly to incl. food, social, bible study etc plus investigate opportunity for youth weekend / time away together;
• (b) Younger youth: investigate need / opportunity to gather the younger youth midweek fortnightly / once a month (this could include support St George's Disciple’s Den on Monday night)
• (c) Sunday mornings - to support the regular Kids Church team plus support the Youth ministry. (This TBC but to incl. joint at Chapel);
• (d) Schools Work: as available to support the existing Christian input into the local schools (including Prayer Space and Open The Book at Georgeham Primary, and the Christian Unions at Braunton and Ilfracombe Academies) alongside existing workers;
• (e) Uni / Working Young Adults: to keep connection 'live' and create opportunities to meet during holidays etc.
• In addition, and time allowing, we would encourage:
  • Supporting The Point (Sunday night Youth Club at SGH), and
  • The Pointier (Sunday night Youth at South Street)

A willingness to work with children, youth and young adults at CBC and connect with them during the week at school, on Sundays and at another time during the week.
