Description

Working as part of the Diocese of Exeter's Communications and Engagement team you will be taking a lead on digital mission and evangelism with youth and young adults in Devon and helping guide CofE churches in how to be confident communicators and witnesses in the online world.

You will be drawing on research done by Youthscape, the Bible Society and others about current digital trends and landscapes and current research into the lives of youth and young adults.

You will also be encouraged to do your own local research about what digital engagement would be most worthwhile for the Diocese of Exeter.

You will support existing and new marketing campaigns and events which fit within your particular remit.

You will also learn general communications and engagement skills to equip you to be a confident and effective communicator, including forward planning and scheduling, filming, editing, photography, news writing, website management and design.

You will support the general work of the communications and engagement team and also work closely with the mission and ministry team.

You will be well-managed and well-supported as part of a friendly and experienced team and there is scope to tailor the role to individual strengths as it is a new one!

 

Essential Criteria

Good communications skills

Interest in social media

Creative and imaginative

Experience in working with young people

Willingness to learn about communications, marketing and digital mission.

Good team player.

Preferred Criteria

Experience of social media content creation

Good writing skills

Good technical skills or willingness to learn new skills

Understanding of digital mission field or willingness to learn

Good photography or videography skills

Week Overview

This is a suggested typical week.

Working hours: 12 per week spread over 2 or 3 days

Monday: Comms team weekly meeting and planning session. social media content creation and scheduling. (in the office)

Tuesday: Running online training with churches and working with a church youth group on a new video campaign. (at home)

Thursday: Working with communications officer on the This is My Story testimony campaign with schools. Doing some learning/research about latest social trends. (in the office)
