Description

The Young Families Team at Belmont oversees the activities for children under the age of 11 and their families at Belmont Exeter. This includes both Belmont member families and those from our local community. The team supports parents and children in their spiritual growth and demonstrates our desire to be engaged in mission with our community. Our hope and prayer is that those we meet might come to know the Lord Jesus Christ through their encounters with members of Belmont Exeter.

This role would be joining an established ministry team, working alongside the Young Families Team Leader and Family Support Worker, to provide opportunities for connection, relationship building, faith development and support through a range of activities. These include midweek toddler groups, outreach clubs, Sunday discipleship groups, one-off events and schools work. The trainee worker would support the running of these activities, contributing to the culture of growth in the young families ministry and, over time, take on responsibility to lead and express personal passion and gifting through involvement in this ministry work.

Key responsibilities

  1. Assist in the planning and delivery of regular young families’ activities and one-off events, gradually taking increased responsibility for leading activities as part of various teams
  2. Connect with families to build relationships and encourage discipleship growth
  3. Support links with local schools, connecting with children and staff through activities with the ICE team
  4. Help support the personal and structured link opportunities between outreach activities and church community and discipleship activities
  5. Apply learning and development from training programme to the church workplace context and regularly review personal progress
  6. Use personal passions and giftings to support the church vision to share the story and live the life of Jesus
  7. Contribute (directly or indirectly) to the Sunday services in ways that include and support young families

Essential Criteria

  • Committed Christian
  • Passion to help children and families grow closer to Jesus
  • Some experience of working with children and/or families
  • Commitment to be involved in church family life
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Self-motivated and conscientious

Week Overview

To include regular activities:

  • A midweek Toddler group
  • F@B kids (Friday evening)
  • Sunday kids
  • Schools work with ICE – assemblies/lunch club
  • Weekly staff meeting
  • Termly team planning meetings

And one-off events such as holiday club, Christmas & Easter family events, The Gathering Kids (termly).
