Fees & Finance
We have created a finance structure which should make the SWYM journey affordable for you, but also requires you to step out in faith for some personal costs.
Whichever course you are enrolled on, you will have your accommodation and food provided. This is often with a host family but could be in a shared flat or annex. Your placement will also reimburse your travel expenses for work, cluster and conferences.
Course: | Trainee Fee: | Placement Fee: |
Be Transformed | £500 | £5,250 |
The Academy | £500 | £5,250 |
BA (Hons) Applied Theology | £9,250* | £3,300 |
Please note that fees are paid annually and rise in-line with inflation.
Fees shown are for trainees starting in September 2024.
SWYM will pay for an initial DBS check if you are not already on the Updating Service. It is the trainee's responsibility to remain on this service whilst in a SWYM placement.
Be Transformed & The Academy
We don’t want finance to prevent people applying to SWYM, and we therefore have a bursary fund available to support students facing financial difficulties. If you would like to find out more information, or to apply for a bursary towards the registration fee, please email finance@swym.org.uk.
BA (Hons) Applied Theology
Eligible students on the BA with Moorlands South West can apply for the full Tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance. See www.gov.uk/student-finance for more information and to apply.
Financial Support
We recommend you try to raise between £100-150 per month as a personal allowance for yourself, simply for your own spending. We will help you with fundraising and encourage you to find supporters to pray for you and help you financially. Don’t let money put you off though – please talk to us and we can journey with you on this. Eligible students on the BA with Moorlands can also apply for the maintenance loan from Student Finance.
* Fee for students starting in September 2023.
